St Peter Port Parish Elections

Thu 18 Nov 2021

The results are in.

After a day of voting at the Constables' Office and Beau Sejour, the polls closed at 8pm and the counting began.

Returning officer Barry Cash was on hand to oversee the proceedings whilst candidates waited with baited breath for the results.

The first results to be received were those of the Schools' Committee for Vauvert and Amherst Infant and Junior Schools.  It was a close run affair with Christine Goodlass retaining her seat and Diane Mitchell taking the second place.  Both ladies received 122 votes a piece with Jenny Tasker following close behind with 95.

Next came the results for Douzenier. With six spaces and seven candidates it was always going to be a closely fought battle.

Topping the poll was Charlotte Long who at 18 is the youngest-ever candidate, whilst Evita Bormane also made history as the first person from Latvia to hold elected office in Guernsey.

There will be another Parish Meeting on Wednesday 8 December when candidates will be asked to stand for the vacated position of constable and douzenier.  This follows the retirement of Dennis Le Moignan.
