Parish Elections

St Peter Port parish elections are back with a second election due to take place in December.

The parish will be holding another meeting on Wednesday 8 December at 7.30pm, in the Harry Bound Room at les Cotils to determine who will take up the roles of Constable and Douzenier after they were vacated by Dennis Le Moignan who retired in October. The yearlong posts will commence on 1 January 2022.

Any person of full age (18 years or over) shall be eligible to hold the office of Constable or Douzenier provided that:
(a) They are ordinarily resident in this Island on the date of their nomination and they have been ordinarily resident in this Island
(i) for a period of two years immediately before that date, or
(ii) for a period or periods of at least five years in the aggregate at any time before that date;
(b) They shall be ordinarily resident in the Parish at the date of their nomination;
(c) They are inscribed on the Electoral Roll
(d) They have not at any time during the five years immediately preceding the date of this election have been sentenced for an offence by a court in the United Kingdom, any of the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, to imprisonment for a period of six months or more (whether suspended or not) without the option of a fine, unless that sentence was quashed or reduced to less than six months on appeal.
